At the age of 35 years, Juan Ramón Jiménez departed for New York in order to marry Zenobia Camprubí, whose love he had fought hard to win and who, over and above his wife, constituted his muse and his life companion. "Diary of a Recently Married Poet", a work that combines both verse and prose, provides testimony to this journey of initiation. The appearance of this landmark book changed the course of Spanish poetry in the twentieth century.

José Luis Gómez returns to the stage in order to lend his voice to this "brief guide towards love by land, sea and air", enveloping the selection of texts in a subtle sound environment. The origin of this project can be found in a beautiful audio-book published by the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (State Company for Cultural Commemorations).

Presented for the first time in 2009, the work was applauded with words such as the following: "Gómez embodies an isolated and solitary Juan Ramón, relishing only the cadence of his verse and the unique and intimate nature of each word. And yet everything, the stalls, the walls of the theatre, absolutely everything / overflows with an essence / that is immense and alive."
