A dream that has been harboured at La Abadía from its founding days will now be doubly fulfilled: two different evenings with Amancio Prada, based on works by two classics of Spanish literature. Under our roof, these concerts will acquire truly theatrical overtones, revolving around the poetic gift and voice of the unequalled troubadour, Amancio Prada.
In the words of María Zambrano, Las Coplas by Jorge Manrique (15th century) constitute "a series of verses that have achieved the prodigious feat of becoming imprinted in the very hearts of the Spanish." Over and above a lament for a deceased father, these verses offer consolation, thought and introspection.El Cántico espiritual (The Spiritual Canticle) by Juan de la Cruz (16th century) evokes the bright path of the soul towards its fusion with the Almighty, the source from which we all emanate. We are introduced to these lofty ideas thanks to the voice of Amancio Prada.
