A modern-day and contemporary approach to one of the most emblematic works in Catalan literature. This new interpretation of the classic play by Àngel Guimerá is a highly personal project of Lluís Homar, who, together with the staging and direction of Pau Miró, presents a production of Tierra baja like nothing we have ever seen before, taking on all of the roles in the work himself. Thus, he not only plays the naive Manelic, who descends from the high land into the mire of the most turbulent human passions, but also Marta, and even Señor Sebastián, which is to say, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf at the same time.
This solitary performance on stage serves to highlight the contrast established between the “dark” dimension (low land) and the “pure” dimension (high land), not to mention the complexities, contradictions and internal battles that exist inside all of us.
This will be the third time that Lluís Homar has starred at La Abadía, following his performances in Play Strindberg and Der Theatermacher (“The Histrionic”). For this roles he was rewarded as Max Award 2014 for Best Lead Actor.
