"An unusual theatrical encounter", "A star in the firmament", "A small jewel packed with marvels" ... these are just some of the reviews that "Auto de los Reyes Magos" earned last year. Our aim is to make this work an annual event at La Abadía.
This work, containing 147 verses, is a founding jewel of Spanish theatrical literature and provides the basis for this ceremonial spectacle, which is completed with other texts and live music from the same period (twelfth and thirteen centuries).
The story is familiar to all of us, but here it is told in a new and unaffected manner. By playing around with traditional and popular symbols, Ana Zamora and her team introduce the public to a language that has long been forgotten. We travel with the Wise Men back to the cradle of our theatrical creation.
